Warning!!!!!

The child obesity epidemic is rising and there seems to be very little being done to curb this illness. Research is fine, but what about our children while the research is being done? Parents, we must take action for our children. Our children are faced with chronic illnesses related to their obesity status. We have to get into this fight for our children's sake. If we step up now and help our children curb obesity, they will more than likely appreciate the help we have given when they become young adults. The main thing for us to focus on is to make sure our children will live to grow up to young adults and beyond. This might sound harsh, but this is a real and prevalent situation we are facing.

What are Maintainers?

Maintainers are those people who made a commitment to themselves to lose weight. They were very selective in their weight loss regime and made realistic weight loss goals. They are successful with their weight loss goals and they keep the weight off. They are successful because when selecting a weight loss program, they were very careful in their choice to ensure their program would be nutritious. Any diet program would not provide the same successes. Maintainers are motivated to reach their targeted goal.

New "Miracle" Diet Pill Just Released

Hello Everyone,

Have you heard about the new "miracle" diet pill? Do you think you will rush right out to purchase it? Well, before you rush out to your friendly store to shell out $60.00, make sure you read about the side effects of this new "miracle" diet pill. I will say this, I won't be purchasing this "miracle" pill because I prefer to purchase something that I know has no side effects but will give me healthy results. The choice is yours, purchase Alli (new "miracle" diet pill) for $59.99 with the side effects or spend about $50.00 more for something that will give you the same or better results without the side effects. Visit www.marymshields.usana.com to find out what I choose to purchase rather than Alli.

Motivation is the Key

It is a hard feat in gaining the motivation to begin a diet regimen. Harder still is to begin a healthy diet regimen. Once you find the motivation to start a healthy nutritional diet plan, you must resolve within yourself to have the stamina to endure your weight loss plan until you have reached your desired weight loss goal. Never skip meals in hopes of losing a few pounds. The only thing you will lose using this type of weight loss plan is energy. Your body cannot function at its optimal peak on less energy. You must consult your physician before beginning any weight loss program.

Healthy Weight Loss

The best healthy weight loss I have found is in RESET. This is a healthy five-day fast. It takes five days to rid your body of alien particles that you have ingested over the years. A colon cleanse would be a better term for this. If you have ever had a colonoscopy, then doing this five-day fast would not be foreign to you. When I started the five-day fast and followed it to the end, I was happy with the results. This colon cleanse tasted a lot better than the colon cleanse you have to do before a colonoscopy. I thought I would never get through that gallon of "cleanser," but with the RESET, it was a breeze.

Child Obesity in School Part III

Before we can reprimand our children’s schools, we must educate ourselves on the governmental rights afforded to our children. We have to know if our children are not being given the rights the government provided for them. The only way we will know this is to educate ourselves first and then visit the schools.

Perhaps you could suggest to your child’s school to have a student advisory committee to help them with meal planning. This would be a step in the right direction to battling child obesity in school.

I am an avid proponent of health and wellness for children. Child Obesity has become an obsession with me to spread the word about this illness and to get more people educated on the facts. Get a free copy of my e-book, “Child Obesity” by filling out the box to the right.

Child Obesity in School Part II

We cannot sit back and wait for others to address the problem of child obesity within our own household. We have to take an active role in combating this illness. We have to do whatever it takes to get this illness under control.

We must visit our children’s school periodically to see firsthand what our children are being served. Go to your child’s school and have lunch with them. You will be more apt to spring into action once you have witnessed and tasted what the schools are serving to your children.

The government sprung into action in 2004 when Congress passed legislation with the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act. This act requires schools to create a policy for wellness that addresses nutrition, education, physical activity, and nutrition guidelines for foods offered in schools. It is up to us as citizens and parents to make sure our children’s schools are adhering to these governmental policies.

Child Obesity in School

Parents are not in the fight of child obesity alone. As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child”, we have to remember that our children spend a lot of hours away from us. The majority of a child’s time away from us is at school.

Go to your child’s school. Talk with the school cafeteria manager about the health and nutrition of the foods served to children daily. Look at the cafeteria to see if it has an appeal to you. If it does not appeal to you, then perhaps it does not appeal to children.

If talking to the school cafeteria manager does not render any results, go to see the principal of the school, the superintendent of schools, or the school board if need be. Do not sit idly by while your child’s health is in jeopardy. Talk to whomever you need to take to in order to get results.

Obesity Epidemic Part IV

The diseases and illnesses that can come about as a result of obesity are phenomenal. Obesity can cause heart disease, sleep apnea, stroke, high blood pressure and diabetes, just to name a few. These illnesses are not fly-by-night illnesses nor are they illnesses that should be taken lightly. These are very serious conditions.

Three facts to be focused on while contemplating the situation of obesity you are faced with are:

Unhealthy eating combined with a lack of physical activity causes obesity,
The top cause of obesity is unhealthy eating habits, and
If you have a history of obesity in your family, you could inherit this dreaded illness.

Some of what you have just read here may set you to thinking about your weight. Just remember if you decide to actively pursue weight loss you must also change your lifestyle. If you fail to change your lifestyle, you will most likely go back to your old eating habits, thus weight regain and weight gain in inevitable.

Obesity Epidemic Part III

Let’s look at what obesity has done to your bones and joints. You are in constant joint pain. Because of the joint pain, you have resigned to be less active. Guess what? Your lack of physical activity is not going to make the obesity disappear. The key here is to exert more physical activity. More physical activity will lead to loss of pounds. Fewer pounds lead to less pain in your bones and joints.

Start your physical activity at a low rate at first. Work your way up to a more vigorous and robust physical routine. Don’t try to start at a level too high that will worsen the pain you already have. Don’t try to start at a level too high that you will not be able to sustain.

Obesity Epidemic Part II

Obesity is defined as having too much fat on your body. How did you get too much fat on your body? Have you paid attention to what foods you were consuming? Can you identify what foods are ‘bad’ for you? Have you thought about what you can do to change your situation? Do you know what you are doing to the bones and joints in your body having too much fat? Do you have any idea as to what you are doing to your heart?

Why do we have to be critically ill before we decide to rectify our situation? We can put a halt to obesity by putting forth an effort to do so. Once we have decided to put forth the effort to reverse our current situation with obesity, we must exercise patience and determination to get through this.

Stay tuned for further information regarding this topic.

Obesity Epidemic

Across this nation, obesity has become widespread. Child Obesity has gone rampant. But how did our children get to this point? What are the hidden reasons why our children are obese? Are we as parents contributing to the child obesity?

Somehow, someway we have to focus on our own weight situation before we can begin to focus on our children. A better scenario here is to focus on both – parents and children. We need to first determine what we are doing to create obesity. Once we have established the answer to this question, we can begin our attack to rid our families of obesity.

Child Fast Food Obesity - II

Maybe your child improved their school grades. This is a great time to use a fast food meal as a reward. Let us not use fast food meals to be the norm for our children to eat.

Sacrifices are needed to keep our children healthy. Realizing most homes have both parents working outside of the home, sometimes it is hard to have the time needed to prepare nutritious home-cooked meals. This is where sacrifice comes into play. You might have to prepare several meals at one time and put them in the freezer for later consumption.

Do some research to find out ways to help you help your children with obesity. Children need nutrition for their growing up years. Children do not need to learn to focus on fast food as their only source of food intake.

www.marymshields.usana.com

Child Fast Food Obesity

We have to be proactive and get our children away from the fast food industry. It will be difficult to make this change all at once but we must start by reducing the number of fast food meals our children consume. Gradually we will be able to eliminate fast food meals all together.

If you allow your child/children to eat at fast food chains every day, then start reducing these meals to three times a week. After about a week or two, cut it down to two times a week. Continue in this manner until fast food meals are just a “treat” as a reward for excelling at something.

Media

The media advertisements for weight loss make it difficult to focus on controlling your weight. In order to be successful with your weight loss goals, you have to be in control. You have to be able to manage your weight. It would be better to maintain a focus on your diet and exercise program. This would be great for your children also. If you educate yourself in your weight loss pursuits, you will be able to teach what you have learned to your children.

Teaching Children About Nutrition

In the fight for prevention of child obesity, our children must be taught about nutrition. Parents know that the day will come when their child will “leave the nest,” so it would be wise to teach the child all there is to know about nutrition.

This will give the child a foundation and a basic knowledge of what is good for their body and what will keep their body functioning for them. With all the television advertisements targeting children, makes it imperative to teach children about nutrition before they ask for the junk foods from these ads. The advertising industry preys on the children’s love of junk foods. This is partly what keeps them in business.

Comments for My E-Book

Snacks and Fast Foods Out of Your Diet - Part IV

One important factor we must bear in mind is the fact that most of the time when we eat fast food, we do not take the time necessary to engage in enough physical activity to burn the calories. Therefore, it is inevitable that the body will store the excess calories as fat. Oh no!! What that means is added pounds.

Resolve to get rid of the snack food cravings and the desire to eat fast foods. Choosing not to do this may mean disaster for any weight loss plan you decide to embark upon. Always consult your physician before undertaking any diet plan or any drastic change to your daily meal plan.

Snacks and Fast Foods Out of Your Diet - Part III

Substitute those snack food cravings with fruits and vegetables. Fruits will offer you the energy your body needs for your daily activities. Vegetables give you many other nutrients your body needs for optimal performance, depending on the vegetable of your choice.

We all love to eat at fast food chains. But have you ever wondered how nutritious and healthy fast foods are? Do you know what nutrients your body is consuming? Do you realize that eating at fast food chains gives you very little control over what you eat?

We must substitute eating at fast food chains with the old-fashioned home-cooked meals. With home-cooked meals, there is no doubt prevalent as to what vital nutrients you are consuming and you have complete control over what enters your body. Counting the calories in fast food is very hard to do and it is harder to control your caloric intake.

Snacks and Fast Foods Out of Your Diet - Part II

Are you one of those people who crave snack foods? Do you crave a good chocolate bar to get through the afternoon at work? Do you crave popcorn when you sit down to watch that movie you rented from Blockbusters? If your answer to all or any one of these questions is yes, then you must find a way to get rid of these cravings. These snack cravings are one of the major factors standing between you and your weight loss goal success.

It is very difficult to restrict yourself from those foods and drinks you love, but it is imperative that you find the motivation and willpower to do just that. Most of the snack foods you crave have no nutritious value to your diet. If you want to be successful with your weight loss regime, your first and foremost focus must be on the health and nutrition of your body.

Snacks and Fast Foods Out of Your Diet

Gaining weight is an easy thing for a lot of us to do but what about losing weight? Losing weight without changing those daily habits that caused us to gain weight is impossible.

First, snacking has to be removed from your diet. Oftentimes, snacking is a way to eat non-nutritious foods and thus weight gain is inevitable. Most of the snacking we do is on salty or sugary staples. These snacks are great for adding pounds. Oh, but wait. We are not trying to add pounds.

Weight Control

The changes in society today have contributed greatly to our weight status. The technological changes and the foods we eat have taught us to live sedentary lives. Women working outside of the home have contributed to more eating at restaurants rather than home cooking.

In order to gain control over our weight, we must start with realistic expectations. Rather than putting the entire focus on weight loss, we must look toward a healthier attitude when trying to gain control over our weight. A realistic goal for controlling our weight would be about ten pounds a month. With a diet and exercise program, this is a reachable target. We must remember that the weight did not appear all at one time, therefore, the weight will not disappear all at one time.

Another deterrent in weight control management is the media. With all the hoopla regarding the many diet pills on the market, it is difficult to concentrate and focus on a healthy regime when trying to gain control over our weight. The media presents many ways of getting the perfect body shape and looks by proposing new diets that will work miracles, not to mention the exercise equipment that supposedly helps do the work for us.

Deciding what to do to control our weight, we must weed through all the diet commercials and diet paraphernalia to find what will fit our needs. Researching the dozens of diet regimes on the market today takes plenty of concentration remembering what our specific needs are.

While trying to gain control over our weight, we must adhere to two main factors, diet and exercise. Diet and exercise is the means for losing weight and toning up at the same time.

In order to control our weight, we will have to change our lifestyle and we must concentrate on what we need to keep us aware of physiological and psychological effects of critical occurrences within our lives. To have success with a diet plan to control our weight means we have to make changes to our eating habits.

I am an avid proponent of health and nutrition for all people, young and old. I believe that children are our greatest assets and they are our future. We must focus on what we can do as parents to fight the weight loss battles in our society today to save our children. Follow me to a phenomenal product that will jump start your focus to www.marymshields.usana.com. You'll be glad you did.

Child Obesity

Recent research has uncovered interesting and startling information regarding child obesity. Children are eating more and participating less in physical activity. This leads to obesity in children. Families must start taking an active part in trying to reduce obesity in children by changing the lifestyle of the entire family making it more conducive to health and fitness.
Being an employee of a rural school system, I see problems with childhood obesity daily. This is an unrealistic observation and one that has stirred a lot of interest in me to want to research this growing problem.

Sometimes we use food as a crutch. We use food as a means of feeling better after a rough day at work or a rough day with the kids. It's this kind of thinking that allows food to take over our mind, body and soul. When this happens, the weight gain is inevitable. RESET in 2007

RESET in 2007 for Life
I have struggled with weight gain for the past eighteen years. I tried all sorts of diet programs only to find that I would lose a few pounds but find those pounds again plus some more. I was on an up and down seesaw with my weight problem.
In 1995, I underwent major surgery to correct a medical problem that was causing me paralyzing migraine headaches. This condition was called Temporo Mandibular Joint (TMJ). I went to several doctors and specialists to find the cause of the headaches and my condition seemed to confuse the doctors. It wasn't until September 1995 that the doctors collaborated and decided that my problem was TMJ. It was explained to me that I had more jaw on one side of my face than I did on the other. This misalignment of jaw was causing a terrible occlusion that in turn was causing the paralyzing headaches.
In December 1995, I went through a surgery called an Osteotomy. Rather than go into the specifics of the surgery, I will tell you that I lost a lot of weight. I lost so much weight that I really looked unhealthy. I went from wearing a size 20 clothes to a size 12. Now that was some weight loss. I lost this weight because I was laced up (my teeth were wired shut) for thirty days. Once I was unwired, it took another three months for me to gradually get back into eating solid foods normally. This was sort of like a person who has broken their leg and have to go through therapy to learn how to walk again.
Once I was able to eat normally again, the weight I had lost was catching up to me quick. Once I saw the weight coming back on, I started using all sorts of diet programs. I would lose a few pounds over a short period of time but the pounds came back in a shorter period of time. This up and down weight gain went on for four years until I decided to give up trying to lose weight. The only problem with this was I didn't stop gaining weight.
On January 5, 2007 (eight years later), I visited my doctor only to discover that I had gained so much weight that I now weighed a whopping 246 pounds. I was so hurt and frustrated with myself. It was then that I decided to step up to the plate and try something I had never tried before - RESET.
I started the 5-day RESET regimen on January 8, 2007 and on January 12, 2007, I toppled the scales at 231 pounds. I was elated. I was beside myself. I was on top of the world. I had finally found what I needed to get rid of the weight. It has been four weeks since I went on my 5-day RESET regimen and I have lost a total of 19 pounds and I am working toward my goal of losing 80 pounds this year. Without RESET, I never would have started another diet regimen and without the RESET, I probably would have gained 19 pounds rather than lose 19.
Are you going through the same thing I have been going through with weight gain and weight loss? Are you interested in the best diet regimen around to fight your battle with weight? If your answer to these questions is YES, then join me in RESETting in 2007 for Life. For more information, go to www.marymshields.usana.com, to get started on the best new weight loss plan available today.
